Description

A sweet and tangy barbecue sauce with a hint of bourbon flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ¼ cup bourbon
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar (tightly packed)
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons hot sauce
  • 2 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (vegetarian or gluten-free, if needed)
  • fine sea salt (to taste if needed)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together all ingredients in a wide saucepan over medium heat, and bring to a simmer.
  2. Whisk occasionally, scraping the sides as needed so any sugars don’t burn.
  3. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Let cool slightly and transfer to a jar or use immediately.
  5. Store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for up to 6 months.
  6. You can make it up to 2 weeks ahead of time and store in an airtight container in the fridge until you need it.

Notes

  • Enhance flavor by adjusting the hot sauce to desired spiciness.
  • This sauce can be used as a marinade or dipping sauce.
