Homemade Ponzu Sauce

Description

A bright and tangy homemade ponzu sauce perfect for dipping or dressing.


Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ½ cup lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons mirin
  • ½ cup bonito flakes
  • 1 piece kombu (approx. 3x5 inches)

Instructions

  1. Zest one of the lemons and juice the rest.
  2. Chop or cut up the kombu into small pieces.
  3. In a jar with a lid combine all the ingredients.
  4. Give this a good shake and then tuck it away in your refrigerator for 3 days.
  5. Strain the sauce so no large pieces remain.
  6. Use your homemade ponzu or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks or more.
