Description

A rich and creamy red hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and red sanding sugar.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup bittersweet or semi-sweet chocolate (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon red gel food coloring (use more or less, to get the color you want)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon red sand sugar

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, heat the milk and cream over medium heat.
  2. Gradually add the chopped chocolate and stir until it is completely melted.
  3. Stir in the red food coloring and the vanilla extract. Add more food coloring if needed, until you get the red you are looking for.
  4. In a mixer bowl, whip the cream with the sugar and vanilla extract.
  5. Serve the hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and sprinkled with red sanding sugar.

Notes

  • For a darker red, add more food coloring as desired.
